Spotlight on: Everday Life

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 23, 2015, 2:21 AM

Dear Guildies, artisans, viewers and friends,

before we go on with another Feature of one of our Gallery sections, please allow me to comment in regards to your submissions.
Please make sure you submit to the correct Folders of our Gallery sections. If in doubt, please have a look at our Folder Submission Guidelines on the FrontPage!
We still accept most of your submissions but we had to move them to the correct Folders more than often in the past. Other communities on DA just dismiss them
if the Folder isn't correct. Save us from going this way by taking your part of the Attention to it, please. Thanks!
On a side note: All Images that have a promotional Background or purpose Need to be submitted to the Marketplace Folder. That is also for all Images with an
Artistic License watermark. We like to keep all of our other Folders for your works not being promotional pieces other than Promotion for the artwork and the Artist
of course. Thanks for your understanding!

And now......

The Daz Artists Guild is proud to showcase some outstanding images from our Everyday Life Gallery :

Please enjoy and a big round of Applause for the artists:

What are Artisans?

Starting with this year's cycle, every artist whose works have been selected as one of our Images of the Month can be promoted to Artisan of the Guild if he/she agrees.

It will not only be a title that shows your standing in the Guild, of course. But don't be afraid, we do not ask you to become more active than you like, it's totally up to you.

:bulletred:You can accept the promotion or remain a member, your decision. We totally accept should you wish to remain a member.

:bulletred:In the near future all Artisans will get a higher submission level to our galleries. we will keep you updated on this.

:bulletred:All Artisans will be involved in the process of suggesting the next IOM's. Artisans will be asked to suggest one artwork every month. There is no guarantee this suggestions will finally make it but all suggestions will be taken into consideration! Once again, this is up to the Artisan to decide if he wants to participate or not!

:bulletred:All Artisans will be able to send invitations to their friends or other artists to join the Guild!

:bulletred:In the future Artisans might get asked for their input regarding Guild concerns, if they want to!

So, if your image has been chosen as one of our Images of the Month, expect to get a promotion request soon and accept it, should you wish to.
Looking forward to welcome you as an Artisan soon.

Submission Guidelines!!!

Gallery Guidelines

The Daz-Artists-Guild likes to thank you all for the great art you are submitting to our galleries!
Please see our submission guidelines below before you submit your works to ensure your works will go to the correct folder :

*Fantasy – For fantasy scenes and content. Steampunk, Surreal, Magical, Mystical, Fairie/Fae/Pixie and Anthro may be submitted here. For images where there is a suspension of the accepted rules of nature and physics. For scenes depicting an alternate or fantastic world. For example, referential works would include the work by/or the like of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Terry Brooks, George R. R. Martin, Le Morte d’Arthur, Jacek Yerka, Frank Frazetta, Brom, Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell, Howl’s Moving Castle, Beowulf, or Alice in Wonderland.

*Science Fiction and Utopia – For science fiction and utopia (also dystopian images) scenes and content. This folder is for depictions of the near or far future; including ultra-tech, cyperpunk, and sci-fantasy (i.e. Star Wars or Dune). For example, referential works would include the work by/or the like of Frank Herbert, Philip K. Dick, Authur C. Clarke, Andreas Eschbach, William Gibson, Jules Verne, Jean-Claude Dunyach, Metropolis, Brazil, Dark City, Blade Runner, Night Watch (Ночной дозор), Halo, Starcraft, or Deus Ex.

*Romantic – Historical Romantic or any other images where emotion and mood is presented in a romantic way.
Images that would also fit in other categories, like Fantasy, Every Day Life and such can be posted in Romantic, as long as
Romance is the main theme of the image.

*Action and Suspense - For scenes depicting action and suspense. This is a broad category, including contemporary, historical, or near-future (i.e. cyberpunk), alternate history (i.e. Steampunk), or fantastic action scenes. This can involve gunplay, sword fights, hand-to-hand combat, fangs, spaceship, aircraft, etc. . The focus of the scene must be either action or impending action. This is another folder than may overlap with multiple folders.

*Dark Themes and Horror – For images containing violence, dark supernatural themes, gothic, or vampire. Please note that images of extreme violence or torture are not included in D.A.G galleries. For example, referential works would include the work by/or the like of Poe, Lovecraft, Poppy Z. Brite, Stephen King, Koontz, Anne Rice, Wes Craven, Silent Hill, Le Pacte des loups, Nosferatu, H.R. Giger, or Rob Zombie.

*Mythology and Myths – For mythological scenes and characters. This folder may overlap with Fantasy, Horror, or Action from time to time; however, the central focus should be a depiction of a mythological event (Saturn eating his children) or character (Aphrodite).

*Pin Up and Glamour – For Pin up and Glamour images. Pin up is broadly defined as consisting of a tempting look and/or a sexy pose to inspire desire in the viewer. Pin up can run the gambit of modern pin up to the classic pin-up of the early 20th century and late 19th Century (think Alberto Vargas or the posters of Henri Toulouse-Latrec) Glamour images are similar to pin up in that they are both artistic images; however, glamour has less emphasis on overt allure and more emphasis on the aesthetic nature of the human form. This folder accepts both; if you are uncertain of whether or not your image fits into this folder perhaps, the Mature folder is the best option. The TOS still applies; NO exposed genitalia.

*Everyday Life – For scenes made with realistic content. In other words, this folder is not for fantasy or science fiction. Examples may be still life, depictions of contemporary life, or historical depictions of life (Medieval, Colonial North American, Victorian England, or cavemen trading stories over a camp fire).

*Portraits – For head and shoulder images; strictly held to waist up images. NOT full figures.

*Scenic – For scenes where the focus is upon the landscape, terrain, architecture or scene setting. Starscapes and Outerspace scenes may be included in this folder.

*Animals – For images with an animal (nonhuman and nonhumanoid) as the central focus. Prehistoric and contemporary species would go into this folder. Fantastic or alien (including robotic) creatures would go in their respective folders, Fantasy or Science Fiction.

*Comic Art – For one page or multipage comics; however, we also accept tribute or fan art renders of comic characters.

*Marketplace and Promotions – For morphs, objects, skins, clear-cut images for post-work, brushes, and fonts. We like to see DAZ compatible products; however, that is not a restriction for this folder. (We recognize that our members use a diversity of tools in their work.)

*WIP Section – For works in progress or exploring experimental artistic concepts.

*Tutorials – For tutorials on digital art techniques. This is not exclusive to just DAZ software; but may also include post-work tutorials.

*Mature – For anything mature themed; images must have a filter. Images may include artistic nudes; however, the TOS regarding exposure of genitalia still applies. NO EXPOSED genitalia. (see excerpt from our TOS on lower section of this page!)

*Artistic Nudity – For your male or female nude images. We will decline any material which is defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy. No rapescenes, no sexual acts, no masturbation.

Thank you!

The original Daz Artists Guild was founded in 2007 by a group of fellow Daz Studio users and friends. At that time I made a video as a thank you to these guys and our members for the overwhelming starting success of our web-community. It featured my images at that time. Now that we started this group here on DeviantArt, this is more like a sentimental memory....but who knows? Once this group is getting bigger I might make a new promo vid.......

Watch it here!…

Now that you enjoyed my "thank you" video, are you ready for the first offical Daz Artists Guild Video, created by our very talented Guild Master Evoluzione.

8-) Watch it here... 8-)

and here is another Fan Video made for our guild :…

I am looking for some help. I am very new to daz3d 4.8 and horrendous render times. I have a macbook pro and was wondering how I shorten these times but still get quality.

In DS 4.8 IRay is the default rendering engine. Its new tech, and slower than others out there currently. There is some tuts out there to try to understand Iray better, but you can also switch to the original #Dlight renderer for faster renders. Also, I don't know that your macbook has as far as graphics card, but IRay will take advantage of a nvidia card with CUDDA cores for faster render times.

Glad I was of some help!

I've been searching the forums for quite a few hours now and haven't quite found the solutions to my questions. I searched deviantart and a general google search too.

I've got several items saved to my wish list, but until then I'd like to see if any one has any suggestions.  Iray seems to be doing great with the hair I've been attempting to render with just the prepackaged 'Iray shaders'.

I may still get the UHT Hair Shaders for Iray anyway. However when it comes to rendering with 3Delight I'm having less than stellar results (apparently a very common issue) I've tried using several different lights, or just UberEnviroment2, I've used the Omnifreaker SimpleSurface shader (which seems to be working the best and isn't super slow),  Omnifreaker Human Surface shader, the Ubersurface shader, the Uberhair shader (which doesn't seem to work at all), the AOA subsurface shader, the Daz basic ones (alll of them!)

I've turned shadows on and off, I've increased the render dimensions. I've tried different light styles. I've tried several of UE2's light settings (occulsion w/ soft, etc )  I haven't fiddled too much with the hair settings themselves yet as I was hoping to find a tutorial.  Can anyone suggest which shader I should stick with and maybe which toggles I should change to keep the hair from being super dull or a big chunk of clay like strips, or completely transparent?

Not sure if it matters but if case it does here are the computer stats:  Processor : Intel (R) CoreTM i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz  Ram is 12.0 GB Running Windows7 64 Bit. Graphics card is GeForce GTX 680.

Thanks so much!
